What salary can an accountant expect?
In India, roughly 4–9 LPA for a semi-qualified accountant and 8–20 LPA for a qualified CA in industry, with Big Four and financial services above that. The US band is about $55,000–$85,000 for staff level, the UK £28,000–£50,000. Qualification status moves this number more than years do.
Do I need to be fully qualified to get hired?
No. Article-ship, part-qualified and semi-qualified roles exist precisely so experience builds alongside the exams, and delaying applications until you are fully qualified costs years of seniority for no gain. Say clearly which stage you are at and which papers remain.
Which software should I know?
Tally and one ERP for the Indian market, QuickBooks or Xero for smaller Western employers, and SAP or Oracle for large ones. Excel matters more than any of them, and 'proficient in Excel' means nothing without lookups, pivots and a model you can walk somebody through.
