Free AI interview coach
Practice out loud until the real interview feels easy.
Most candidates prepare by re-reading the job post. AceCoach makes you practice out loud: it asks the questions your exact role gets, runs a real back-and-forth voice mock interview, and scores every answer for STAR structure, filler words, and whether you landed a quantified result.
It works instantly in your browser with a built-in engine — no account, no payment. Add your own AI key in settings and the questions, follow-ups and feedback get sharper. Ten minutes a day for a week beats any night-before cram.
The reason practice out loud matters, rather than rehearsing in your head, is that interviewing is a motor skill. Written answers evaporate under pressure because you never practised the actual act of saying them; you know the framework and still hear yourself ramble. Speaking your answer, hearing it back, and noticing where you hedged or trailed off is what turns knowledge of the STAR method into the ability to use it when a stranger is watching. AceCoach scores that spoken answer in real time — the structure, the length, and the filler words you don't know you're using.
STAR fails most often not from ignorance but from mis-weighting. The common mistake is ninety seconds of situation and fifteen of action. Invert it: one sentence of situation, one of task, then the bulk of your time on the specific actions you personally took — the decisions, the trade-offs, the thing you built — and a result that carries a number. If you catch yourself saying "we" repeatedly, that's the signal to re-anchor on "I", because the interviewer is assessing you, not your former team. AceCoach flags weak structure so you feel the difference between a story that lands and one that wanders.
Prepare stories, not scripts. Five well-chosen stories cover the overwhelming majority of behavioural questions in any round: a hard problem, a conflict, a failure you owned, a time you led without authority, and a time you delivered under real constraint. Each re-angles to answer several different questions, which is far more robust than memorising twenty answers that collapse the moment the wording shifts. Rehearsed-but-understood sounds conversational; memorised sounds like a recording, and interviewers increasingly probe with "say that differently" specifically to tell them apart.
Technical and coding rounds reward narration over silence. Interviewers cannot assess reasoning they can't hear, so state your assumptions, name the brute-force approach and why it's insufficient, describe the better approach before you write it, and say the complexity out loud. A candidate who reasons well while stuck often outscores one who silently produces a correct answer, because the job is mostly the former. AceCoach's coding and technical modes are built to reward that narration rather than just a final result.
Pair the practice with knowing what's coming. Our interview prep tool predicts the likely questions for a specific job description and scales them to the seniority level, so your ten minutes a day are spent on the questions that role actually asks rather than a generic list. Practising the right questions out loud, daily, for a week is the single highest-return preparation there is.
