What salary can a cloud engineer expect?
In India, roughly 8–16 LPA early and 20–40 LPA at senior level, with AWS and multi-cloud experience at the top of both bands. The US band is about $100,000–$160,000 mid-level, the UK £50,000–£85,000. Certification helps at entry and stops mattering once you have run something in production.
Which cloud should I learn first?
Whichever your target employers use, and for most of India and the US that is AWS. Our study found it named in 70% of DevOps and platform postings against 34% for GCP. Learn one properly rather than three shallowly — the concepts transfer and the second provider takes a weekend.
Do I need certification to get hired?
It helps get past a first filter and it is worth having early, particularly the associate-level architect exam. What it does not do is substitute for having built something. An engineer with one real deployment they can describe end to end beats a candidate with three certificates and no scar tissue.
