What salary can a customer success manager expect?
In India, roughly 6–14 LPA at mid-level and 18–30 LPA senior, often with a variable component tied to retention. The US band is about $70,000–$120,000 including variable, the UK £35,000–£65,000. Ask how much of the number is at risk against renewal targets before comparing offers.
Is customer success just support with a different name?
No, and the distinction matters at interview. Support is reactive and measured on resolution; customer success is proactive and measured on retention and expansion. If a posting describes ticket queues and response times, it is a support role using the newer title, and the career ladder is different.
Can I move into it from support or sales?
Routinely, and those are the two most common routes in. From support you bring product depth and need to learn commercial conversations; from sales you bring the commercial instinct and need to learn the product properly. Name which gap you are closing and interviewers take the move seriously.
