What salary can a data analyst expect?
In India, roughly 6–12 LPA at two to four years' experience, and 15–28 LPA at senior level in product companies; IT services pay materially less for the same title. In the US the band runs about $70,000–$110,000, and in the UK £35,000–£60,000. The largest single jump usually comes from moving out of reporting and into modelling that a business decision actually depends on.
Do I need a degree to become a data analyst?
No, and this is one of the few roles where that is genuinely true rather than encouraging. What gets you shortlisted is SQL you can defend under questioning, one dashboard somebody actually used, and the ability to say what changed because of your analysis. Three real questions answered end to end will beat a list of certificates.
Is SQL or Python more important for analyst roles?
SQL, by a wide margin, for getting hired. Almost every screen tests it and a good number are SQL-only. Python matters once you are forecasting or automating, but a candidate with excellent SQL and no Python clears more first rounds than the reverse.
