Less algorithm work, more scenarios: how you would debug a failing deployment, design a pipeline, or handle an incident at two in the morning. Expect deep questions on one cloud rather than shallow ones on three, plus Kubernetes and Terraform where the posting names them.
Do I need certifications for DevOps roles?
They help pass automated screens, particularly at large or regulated employers, and they help least where the hiring is most technical. One cloud certification plus one system you actually operated beats three certifications and no production experience.
Can I move into DevOps from software engineering or support?
Yes, and both are well-trodden paths. Support engineers already understand failure modes; developers already understand the code. The gap to close is usually infrastructure as code, and the discipline of treating operations as software.
