Typically four to six: a recruiter screen, one or two coding rounds, a system design round from around three years' experience, and a behavioural round. Product companies weight design heavily from mid-level upward; services companies tend to weight breadth of stack instead.
Do I need to grind LeetCode to get hired?
For big tech and well-funded product companies, yes — the format is what it is. For most startups and services companies, a working project you can explain line by line carries more weight. Match your preparation to where you are actually applying rather than to the loudest advice online.
Is remote software engineering work still available?
