A project manager owns delivery — scope, timeline, dependencies, risk. A product manager owns what gets built and why. The titles are used loosely in postings, so read the responsibilities rather than the heading before you apply.
Is PMP certification worth it?
In construction, infrastructure, government and consulting, often yes — it is sometimes a filter you cannot pass without. In software it is rarely required and can occasionally read as a mismatch for teams running lightweight agile.
How do I show project management experience without the title?
Most people have it and undersell it. If you coordinated a launch, ran a migration, or held a cross-team deadline together, that is the experience. Name the scope, name the constraint, and say what shipped.
