Free resume templates, compared
14 templates you can fill and export to PDF free in Resume Studio. Every preview below is the real template rendered with real content, not a mockup — so what you see is what exports.

Pick by how the application is read, not by which looks nicest
The only decision that matters is whether a parser or a person sees your resume first. Applications submitted through a company careers page — Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Taleo, Naukri — are parsed into fields before anyone reads them, and a two-column layout is where that goes wrong: some parsers read straight across, interleaving your sidebar into your job history. A resume you email directly, or hand over at a portfolio review, has no such constraint. When you genuinely do not know, use a single-column template; the visual cost is small and the failure mode is not.
What actually breaks parsing
Very little, and not the things people worry about. Tables, text boxes and multi-column layouts cause most real problems, along with putting contact details in the header or footer region — some parsers never read those. Text inside an image is invisible: if you cannot select it in a PDF viewer, neither can the parser. Fonts and colour are almost never the issue, so the widespread advice to strip all styling is overcorrection. Standard section headings help: call it Experience, not My Journey, because the parser is matching against a fixed vocabulary of headings.
One page or two
Under roughly ten years of experience, one page. Beyond that, two is normal and squeezing to one starts costing you evidence. What does not work is padding to reach a length: a page and a half of substance beats two pages where the second is filler, because nobody reads to the end of a weak resume anyway. The senior version of this mistake is listing every role since university — the first decade can collapse into two lines.
The template is not what gets you the interview
Worth saying plainly on a page about templates. Layout changes almost nothing about your outcomes; the content does. A clean template with vague bullets loses to a plain one with quantified results every time. If you have an hour, spend fifty minutes rewriting your bullets to lead with an outcome and a number, and ten choosing a template. Pick one below, then take the evidence seriously.

Experience
- Cut checkout p99 latency from 850ms to 310ms via database read-replicas and a Redis caching layer; throughput 8M requests/day
- Led zero-downtime migration of the ledger service (500B+ records); reconciliation errors 2.1% → 0.3%, saving $180K/yr
- Architected an event-sourcing pipeline processing 50M events/day; enabled analytics team to reduce reporting lag from 24h to 4h
- Mentored 2 junior engineers to senior promotions; introduced trunk-based CI that cut PR-to-deploy mean time from 3 days to 4 hours
- Designed the feature-flag system adopted across 40+ services; feature rollout time 30min → 3min, safety incidents 0 in 18 months
- Built REST APIs in Go serving 30+ internal teams (3M daily calls); 99.8% uptime with graceful degradation on dependency failures
- Introduced contract testing; caught 12 breaking changes before production, reducing post-deploy incidents 47%
- Optimized a legacy auth service; response time 120ms → 35ms and reduced CPU usage 52%, cutting cloud spend $25K/yr
- Established performance monitoring and alerting, reducing MTTR from 45min to 12min for common issues
- Shipped a Python data-pipeline processing 2TB daily for ML feature generation; 99.2% daily success rate
- Fixed 28 critical bugs in the first 6 months and wrote 100+ unit tests raising code coverage 34% → 61%
- Participated in on-call rotation and resolved 5 production incidents with zero customer impact
